Even though the company fell from mainstream eyes, Matrox is continuing with its niche business model. The company now has three divisions [Matrox Graphics, Imaging and Video], all with extensive product portfolios.
Even though Matrox now accounts for approximately 0.06% of the worldwide graphics market, the company isn't giving up. During CeBIT 2010, Matrox Graphics introduced a twelve display setup, courtesy of the eight-display M9188 Octa-Display Edition and four displays driven by M9148 graphics card.

The system was built using an Intel Core i7 processor, shedload of system memory and twelve 26" NEC MultiSync LCD2690WUXI with a native resolution of 1920x1200. We like the fact that Matrox used displays with 16:10 ratio, rather than 16:9 screens that are all over the show.
The M9188 is nothing else but a dual-GPU setup with eight mini-DisplayPort connectors, while the M9148 comes with quad DisplayPort output. The company demonstrated 8100x3880 resolution, i.e. 7680x3600 pixels with 70 pixels reserved for bezel correction.
No less than 24 adapters were used: 12 Mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cables and additional 12 DisplayPort to DVI cables. Yes, you can call this an octopus.
Neither M9188 nor M9148 are intended for gaming - Matrox is now aggressively positioning themselves as a "Graphics for Professionals" company and as such, their focus is on winning as many stock market and financial institution contracts as possible.作者: Ruboking 时间: 2010-3-3 00:46
