标题: IBM 宣布推出基于 NVIDIA Tesla 的 GPU 服务器产品线
Nvidia (NSDQ:NVDA) scored a victory for its GPU-computing agenda Tuesday with the news that IBM (NYSE:IBM) will be building the first volume server based on Tesla graphics processors from a top computer manufacturer.

The forthcoming IBM iDataPlex dx360 M3 systems will be equipped with a pair of Nvidia’s Tesla M2050 GPUs to go along with a dual-CPU configuration, according to Sumit Gupta, senior manager of Nvidia’s Tesla GPU Computing HPC business unit.

“This is the first time that GPUs are part of a mainstream, high-volume product line from a Tier 1 OEM,” said Gupta, who is responsible for business development around Santa Clara, Calif.-based Nvidia’s CUDPro-Agramming language for GPUs and CUDA-based GPU computing products.

“We’ve been talking about momentum for a long time with CUDA. A number of textbooks have now been written about how to program a GPU, whether it’s CUDA or OpenCL,” Gupta said. “This is a pretty good achievement, considering the programming language is only three years old.”

The iDataPlex dx360 M3 servers from Armonk, N.Y.-based IBM are intended for high-performance compute installations and deliver a number of performance gains over CPU-based iDataPlex systems, according to Nvidia. The integration of the Tesla parts delivers a 10x increase in performance per node and 65 percent lower acquisitions over previous-generation iDataPlex servers, the graphics chip maker said.

“Supercomputing is changing -- from CPU-based clusters to massively parallel GPU-based clusters -- and this change is greatly accelerated by IBM’s adoption of GPUs in its new iDataPlex servers,” said Andy Keane, general manager of the Tesla business at Nvidia.

Gupta said Nvidia anticipated that the world’s top supercomputers would all utilize GPUs in the coming months. He said GPU computing and the CUDPro-Agramming language were already very useful computational tools in specific areas like oil and gas exploration, financial modeling and supercomputing at universities, but that was only the beginning.

“We’re kind of a startup here. We’re building a business around some key markets. The medical imaging market is interesting, for example, because they have really interesting problems. The CT scanners need to reduce the dosage they’re giving patients, which means they need to use more computational time for rendering CT scans,” he said.

Tackling such problems by sharply slashing rendering times through parallel programming on GPUs was a clear path forward, Gupta said.

Universities around the world are seeing the benefits of GPU computing, he added. More than 335 universities around the world now teach CUDA GPU programming and Nvidia’s CUDA developer toolkit has been downloaded more than 200,000 times, according to the company.

Power7 应该还有许多服务器级别的产品销售，和 GPU 比只是摊分的等级不一样，按理说整个 Power 部门应该还是赚钱的。

不要做梦，最多是某种形式的融资合作罢了，半导体工艺是IBM的命根子，而且这是一个政治问题，不仅仅是经济问题，比什么破软件重要多了

近日Nvidia公司得意地宣布IBM公司的iData Plex系列服务器产品中将开始配用Nvidia公司的Tesla 20系列GPGPU显卡产品，Nvidia方面宣称这还是Tesla产品首度打入主流高性能计算服务器系统。

Nvidia公司负责Tesla产品业务的总经理Andy Keane表示：“IBM在旗下的高性能运算服务器上配备我们的Tesla产品，为这款产品画下了浓墨重彩的一笔。从现在开始，世界各地的科学家们终于可以用上由顶级厂商IBM公司提供的基于CUDA技术的Tesla产品。”

IBM宣称其iDataPlex dx360 M3服务器主要面向”高性能数据中心应用，服务器在体积，功耗以及散热性能方面表现相当出色“。系统支持最多两块6核Intel至强5600处理器（3.06GHz），两块Tesla显卡，DDR3-1333内存容量则可达128GB，最多可配备8块2.5寸硬盘（2U机型）或12块3.5寸硬盘（3U机型），系统还支持10Gbit以太网，光纤通道，并可支持160-320GB容量的PCI-E接口SSD硬盘。

这次iDataPlex dx360 M3服务器中所配的Tesla卡型号为Tesla M2050,为单GPU设计，峰值双精度浮点运算能力高达515GFLOPS，单精度浮点运算能力为1.03TFLOPS，卡上配备3GB GDDR5显存，显存位宽384bit，显存峰值带宽148GB/s，显卡最大功耗则为225W。

NB公司可不是赚钱我就做的，而是能不能按目标的比例（IBM**利率。。。）赚到钱，才会决定我做不做；

对头，希望一下DX11显卡及早发布，价格也亲民一点；
现在的HD57xx性能实在一般，发热量不大，那些显卡厂家硬是把散热弄的很花哨。
