DDR3 2GB module price reaches new low, says inSpectrum

Both DRAM and NAND flash spot markets are quiet and reported a sequential downhill trend this week (July 22-18) with 2GB DDR3 modules reportedly reaching a price bottom, according to inSpectrum.
The temporary demand this week for the DRAM spot market came from some traders looking to secure more 2GB DDR3 modules as they believe that the price for the module has reached its bottom, US$10, inSpectrum cited local traders/brokers as saying. Despite the new low price in the spot market, some other local traders hold different opinions and think the price may even drop further in the near future.
As of the noon session of July 22, spot price of branded 2Gb DDR3 was at US$1.26, representing a 2% intra-week drop while spot price for white-branded DDR3 also fell 4% to US$1.04, according to inSpectrum.
For NAND flash segment, an oversupply continued to spread in the channel market. Though the price drop has narrowed to 3% compared to last week's 7% due to local summer vacation demand, overall performance was still weak, the research firm added.
Similar sequential drops were seen for 32Gb MLC and triple-level cell (TLC) NAND flash items. Each pegged at US$3.69 and US$3.41 in the same period, noted inSpectrum.
