Install/live DVDThe combined install/live DVD allows you either to install Ubuntu permanently on a computer, or (by entering 'live' at the boot prompt) to try Ubuntu without changing your computer at all.
There are two images available, each for a different type of computer:
PC (Intel x86) install/live DVD For almost all PCs. This includes most machines with Intel/AMD/etc type processors and almost all computers that run Microsoft Windows, as well as newer Apple Macintosh systems based on Intel processors. Choose this if you are at all unsure.64-bit PC (AMD64) install/live DVD Choose this to take full advantage of computers based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the Intel x86 images instead.

Ubuntu 11.10（Oneiric Ocelot）今天发布了第二个公开测试版，Beta 2采用了最新的Linux Kernel 3.0.4，桌面环境为GNOME 3.2 RC候选版，默认办公软件为LibreOffice 3.4.3，并且采用了Firefox 7.0 Beta 6浏览器、Mozilla Thunderbird 7.0 Beta 3邮件客户端。
从Ubuntu 11.10开始，Canonical将提供DVD ISO镜像供用户安装。Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 2修复了大量的Bug，尤其是Unity和Compiz中的很多Bug得到了解决。Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 2还包括一些新功能，比如更好的LightDM主题，完善了Unity 2D功能，完整支持中文、韩文、日本等脚本语言。
另外，Ubuntu 11.10 Beta 2中还新增了OneConf功能，用户可以在不同的计算机间保持应用程序的同步。启用该功能的方法很简单，到Ubuntu软件中心“File文件”下打开“在计算机之间进行同步”选项即可。
Ubuntu 11.10默认删除了Synaptic Package Manager和PiTiVi，不过用户仍然可以到软件库中下载安装。

正试用，unity不习惯，这个版本内核发热严重，期待解决。

ubuntu好久没用了，不知道进化的怎么样了。
