Today at SIGGRAPH 2007 Phenom developer AMD has announced a new line-up of DirectX 10-enabled FireGL workstation graphic cards. Based on the R6x0 marchitecture and named ATI FireGL V8650, FireGL V8600, FireGL V7600, FireGL V5600, and FireGL V3600 deliver acceleration of DirectX 10- and OpenGL 2.1-based professional applications resulting in increased performance of more than 300% as compared to the previous generation of product.
The new FireGL line-up includes the first workstation card with 2GB of on-board memory, the V8650 and it features the new AutoDetect technology that optimizes the graphics driver based on the user’s specific software applications even while running multiple programs simultaneously.
The new FireGL's will cost:
- $2799 - ATI FireGL V8650 (2GB memory, 512-bit memory interface)
- $1899 - ATI FireGL V8600 (1GB memory, 512-bit memory interface)
- $999 - ATI FireGL V7600 (512MB memory, 256-bit interface)
- $599 - ATI FireGL V5600 (512MB memory, 128-bit interface)
- $299 - ATI FireGL V3600 (256MB memory, 128-bit interface)
... and will start shipping in September.

4 GB in Crossfire?
ATI has announced five FireGL cards and the most interesting cards are the one with R600PRO and the second beast with 2 GB of memory. ATI announced V8600 FireGL based on 700 MHz clocked R600XTX with 1 GB memory and V8650 with 2 GB of memory and 700 MHz clock.
Both V8650 and V8600 are using 512 bit memory and have astonishing 128 GB/s memory bandwidth.
They have dual link DVI’s and support for Stereo 3D output. If you put two of these cards you will end up with 4 GB of memory but currently there is no word that FireGL V7xxx and V8xxx series support Crossfire.
At the same time ATI launched V3600 based on RV630PRO and V5600 with its impressive 800 MHz clock and RV630XT GPU. Our friend known as the 3D professor has reviewed one of them here.
The whole cards and specs are here.

FireGL with 256 bit R600
ATI caught us surprised announcing the FireGL V7600 based on R600PRO that we mentioned today. The card works at 600 MHz and supports Shader model 4.0.
It turns out that this card has the whole 320 Shader units and as we suggested 256 bit memory interface. It uses DDR4 with total bandwidth of 51.20 GB/s.
This is just one of the cards but there will be at least one more iteration of R600PRO with a bit less Shaders and ROPs but it will probably be launched as Radeon rather than FireGL.
