Posted on 10/04/2007 @ 09:50 PM According to fudzilla, a bridge chip known as N100 will enable third party chipsets to support SLI on non NVIDIA mainboard.
This is done through a chipset known as N100 made by NVIDIA for notebook manufacturers. This helps to bring SLI to notebooks using non NV chipset. This is done because there aren't any chipsets made by NVIDIA mobile platform that supports SLI right now.
As N100 is the chipset that is able to enable SLI on non NV SLI capable chipsets, Intel can provide SLI on it's high end chipsets by buying and integrating the N100 chip onto the mainboard designs.
It is said that the Intel Skilltrial also uses this chip. Thus what that means is that any manufacturer can use this N100 chip, probably not only with Intel X38 to deliver a SLI compatible board.
NVIDIA makes money by selling SLI chipsets and Intel boards will be able to support both CrossFire and SLI. Isn't that the best deal ? Definitely a YES.
