标题: 【转贴】BenQ V2400W的权威评测终于出现了。
Image quality

The BenQ V2400W uses a TN panel with a 5 ms response time, which is reduced to 2 ms for colour changes between grey tones.

The first impression we had of the image in the factory settings was pleasantly good. Overall, the colour reproduction was neutral and was convincing, even for grey scales. In the factory settings, there is no banding, meaning the division of an image into colour gradients, and there are also no pixel errors.

The white point, which looks neutral subjectively, also convinces us objectively with a colour temperature of 6471 Kelvin at a brightness level of 219 cd/m², which is too high. This brightness setting is absolutely sufficient for watching videos, but it should be reduced for working on the PC.

The maximum achievable brightness is 248 cd/m² and therefore just misses out on the manufacturer’s indication of 250 cd/m². The minimum brightness of the monitor is an incredible 16 cd/m².

If the brightness is set to zero and the contrast left at 50, it is still possible to achieve brightness of 92 cd/m², which should leave nothing to be desired. By reducing the "Contrast" setting to zero, it really is possible to achieve brightness of just 16 cd/m².

The contrast value of 50 percent selected by the manufacturer is the optimal value. Settings above this cause the brightest colour gradients to merge together. Thus, at a contrast value of 100 in grey wedges or colour wedges from 80 percent, everything is displayed with maximum intensity. In a grey wedge, a fifth of the almost white gradients are lost and replaced with white.

At a contrast setting of 60, the colour wedges are at their maximum from 95 percent, so 5 percent of the possible gradients are lost. The ideal contrast value is only achieved with a value of 50 percent.

A lower contrast value, which gives rise to a similar effect for darker colour gradients in many models, is not a problem for the BenQ V2400W. At a contrast of 0, the three darkest colour gradients merge with each other. However, no banding can be seen, so the contrast regulator for values under 50 obviously only causes a reduction in the backlight.

The precision with which the monitor achieves the sRGB target of 6500K in "Standard" mode with the "Normal" colour temperature without the need for some settings to be adjusted is very pleasing.

Viewing angle

Like all TN panels, the viewing angle dependency is clearly visible in the panel used in the BenQ V2400W. With manufacturer’s values of 160° for horizontal and vertical viewing angles, however, the BenQ V2400W achieves very good results in practice and can distinguish itself positively from other models with the same panel technology.

Although the vertical viewing angle is less strongly pronounced than that of the Samsung 2493HM, for example, when the screen is viewed from below, the decrease of the viewing angle is clearly visible and gives rise to a darkening of the screen content. When the screen is viewed from above, however, the colours are still easily recognisable, even at extreme viewing angles.

The horizontal viewing angle dependence is visible through a deterioration of white to beige, which occurs rather evenly with an increasing viewing angle. However, the colours are still sufficiently recognisable, even at very sharp angles.

Different viewing angles of the same scene. Viewed at very sharp anglesfrom above, left, right and below. In the centre, a photo can be seenwith a frontal view as a reference.

Apart from the slight weakness when the screen is viewed from below, the screen provides good viewing angles for a TN panel which do notlimit it with regard to normal use.
When a completely black image is displayed, a brighter patch can beseen on the screen, from the lower edge in the centre to the rightcorner. From this brighter edge, the black background is displayed in aslightly blue light, which is hardly noticeable, but overall, the blackdisplay is very homogenous and neutral.
The photo strengthens the effect that is visible considerably: on the bottom right, the backlight shines through very slightly.
作者: gz0921    时间: 2008-8-24 21:08
The homogeneity of the brightness distribution was measured at 15 points distributed across the screen after calibration to 140 cd/m²and the largest deviations measured were on the left margin. In the upper left corner, the brightness is 83 percent and therefore deviates from the brightness in the centre by 17 percent. This deviation is within a scope which means that there are no subjectively visible changes in brightness on the screen.

The homogeneity of the backlight on the BenQ V2400w is good.

ResponsivenessBenQ’s version of Overdrive, which is used to balance the remaining lag on the already fast panel and this give rise to improved playback, is known as AMA.
The effect can be seen really clearly when a moving coloured objectis displayed with sufficiently large mono-coloured surfaces. In thistest image, the pentagon moves from left to right. Behind the blackoutlines, a slight shadow can be seen, which is created by thesluggishness of the individual pixels which were black a short time agoand have not yet achieved the final new colour value.
The shadow on the left beside the black outlines shows the sluggish pixels. The pentagon moves to the right.
If AMA, or Overdrive, is activated, an attempt is made to achievethe final colour hue through an intentional short-term over-steering ofthe panel.
However, here, the BenQ Overdrive solution overshoots the mark. Thus, not only are the pixels on the left hand side are too bright, butthose on the right hand side are darkened. Although the contrast on theline is increased somewhat through the Overdrive, the bright seam onthe left hand side is more distracting than the shadow that was visiblebefore. In addition, the shadow on the right hand side is a weakversion of the effect that you actually want to avoid using Overdrive. This bright seam of colour is also known as the corona effect, a typeof bright afterglow at dark edges.
Fundamentally, the TN panel is fast enough and only a small numberof users really need the performance boost. In our opinion, activatingAMA does not provide any visible improvement of the image quality.
With Overdrive, the shadow becomes a bright seam.
Input-Lag
Our measurement of the period of time until the screen content isactually displayed does not provide a constant value, but instead, differences of between 0 ms to 33 ms. Measured from 30 individualvalues, the average input lag is 15 ms.
On the left a 21" CRT, on the right the BenQ V2400W. From top to bottom, some of the measurements we took: 0 ms, 16 ms, 33 ms.
Occasional gamers will not notice this much, but in somecircumstances, the input lag is too much for professional gamers andmay prevent them from being the first to draw in fast-paced shootinggames.

Measurements and calibrationBenQ’s "senseye+photo" technology should ensure optimised imageplayback in the sRGB colour space. However, BenQ has not revealed howthis technology functions. Nor are more precise details on the size ofthe colour space or comparisons to other colour spaces available. Ourmeasurements will show whether or not this technology works. The BenQV2400W does not have an extended colour space.
Correct coverage of the sRGB colour space is important for amultimedia device. This ensures that colours in films, photos and gamesand on Internet sites are displayed correctly.

Colour space comparison
The sRGB colour space is the lowest common denominator forinteraction between various input and output devices in the consumersector. In addition, Windows assumes sRGB, if no colour profile ispresent for a model or graphics file.
Many colour printers work using the sRGB profile on normal paper. For this reason, too, the sRGB colour space is significant for "normalusers", unlike the ISO Coated colour space. Because of the increasedspread of digital mirror reflex cameras and the increase in amateurphotography, photo service providers have switched many of theirexposure machines to the sRGB colour space to spare customers having touse specialised colour spaces.
The comparison of the ICO Coated colour space used in offset printing with the monitor’scolour space is also of interest because the former generallyrepresents the least that current inkjet printers can manage. Manymodern inkjet printers and printing processes also cover a larger area.
Comparison of the ISO Coated offsetprinting colour space (blue-green curve) with the monitor’s colourspace (black line) and the sRGB colour space (red line).
Next, the relevant 3D colour space comparisons for the 24-inch BenQmonitor are displayed. Special attention should be paid to the sRGBcolour space, since this is standard for the Internet, printers andhobby film and image editing.
Explanation: Inthe 3D views, the black grid represents the respective standard colourspace and the white grid represents the monitor’s colour space. Theactual intersection between both colour spaces is represented by thecoloured cube. Where the black grid protrudes beyond the cube, themonitor’s colour space is smaller than the standard colour space. Wherethe white grid protrudes beyond the cube, the monitor’s colour space islarger than the standard colour space.
Simply click the diagrams for enlarged view.
ISO Coated: 93 % coverage
Unfortunately, the monitor does not quite manage to cover the lowestcommon denominator for printing processes. Thus, the result is onlysatisfactory.
sRGB: 94 % coverage
At 94 percent, coverage of the sRGB colour space is good. Apart fromthe peak in Red, the monitor’s colour space is very similar to the sRGBcolour space and therefore covers almost the same scope as it, so thereshould be no nasty surprises when you are working in the sRGB colourspace.
Since the colour space of the BenQ monitor is already completelyexhausted for sRGB, there is no need to compare it with larger colourspaces such as the AdobeRGB or ECI 2.0 standards.

Comparison of factory settings to sRGB standard
Factory settingsRGB standardMeasured

Brightness / cd/m²140219
Black point / cd/m²0,000,26
Contrast / x:1Native841
Gamma / averagesRGB (~2,2)2,28

As is already evident in the 3D view, the largest deviation here isin red. The settings, which are very even overall, and the perfectwhite point are especially praiseworthy. The average deviation of 2,1deltaE also makes it clear that such a good result can hardly beachieved on other models after a calibration.
Of course, it would still be possible to optimise the darkgrey values somewhat and reduce the brightness in the factory settings, but this result shows that BenQ is serious when it comes to optimisedcolour reproduction for the sRGB colour space.

Comparison of sRGB mode with sRGB standard

Brightness / cd/m²140227,7
Black point / cd/m²0,000,25
Contrast / x:1Native910
Gamma / averagesRGB (~2,2)2,25

The sRGB mode is also well adjusted, but can only change the factorysettings slightly. The white point is a little poorer and a little toowarm and at 227,7 cd/m², the brightness is also not kind to your eyes.Lighter grey tones, which were previously reproduced very well are nowslightly better, but nothing has improved for the darker grey tones.Overall, an excellent DeltaE of 1,8 is achieved.

The sRGB calibration was achieved with the following settings in theOSD: Brightness 49, Contrast 50, Sharpness 3, Red 100, Green 98, Blue87, Colour temperature User, Standard mode and AMA off.

BandingThe V2400W can reproduce colour gradients and grey wedges with highprecision and without banding. Only in the case of calibration to avery warm white point of 5800 K as per the UGRA specifications is thegrey gradient no longer completely neutral and thus demonstrates slightcolouring in individual colour gradients. However, since the monitoris officially optimised for displaying the sRGB colour space andtherefore for a completely different white point, this is unimportant.
From the correction curve for the sRGB calibration, it can be seen that only relatively minimal intervention in the graphics cardLUTs were needed to achieve ideal reproduction. Especially for verydark and very bright colours, the gradient is almost perfect, whichallows us to estimate that the display will be optimal in thesesections, with no loss of detail in dark images.
Display of the RGB correction curve of thegraphics card after sRGB calibration. The closer the three colouredlines lie to the 45° axis, the fewer colours have to be discarded for the correct calibration ofthe graphics card and the more intact the colour gradients remain. Please click diagram for enlarged view.

Although BenQ has not equipped the monitor with an extended colour space, the company certainly knows how to cover the sRGB colour space excellently. This seems to be because of the "senseye+photo" technology. The factory settings are absolutely convincing and with just a slight reduction of the brightness, you can achieve a very good, well-balanced image.

The monitor’s sRGB mode has earned its name. Users wishing to work in the sRGB colour space need only select sRGB mode on the BenQ V2400W in order to receive optimal coverage. Calibration is completely unnecessary. It cannot be done better than this. Here, we can only advise BenQ’s rivals to try to imitate this, since BenQ is showing them how it should be done in an impressive manner with the V2400W.

However, even this TN panel is still not a real alternative for demanding graphics workers , although the viewing angle dependency is really very good compared to other TN models. Graphics workers should instead turn to models with VA or IPS panels. The model is absolutely suitable for occasional photo retouches and other less lofty challenges.

Conclusion

The BenQ V2400W is advertised as an unusual designer piece with outstanding capabilities in the sRGB colour space.

Undoubtedly, the design is something special, but unfortunately goes hand in hand with compromises when it comes to ergonomics. There is no height adjustment, side turning function or pivot function.

The sRGB colour is in fact displayed perfectly, and this is without any calibration. An sRGB mode which is so wonderfully set up is truly rare. BenQ has therefore kept its ambitious promise. Despite the good sRGB support, the model cannot really be referred to as a graphics monitor, since the viewing angles are not sufficient. However, if you wish to edit your photos in the sRGB colour space, you are in the right place with the BenQ V2400W.

The fast responding 5 ms panel is very suitable for playing backmoving pictures. Together with the deep black point, a very highcontrast of 927:1 is achieved, which makes film playback a trueexperience. The perfectly functioning choice of interpolation, togetherwith the overscan function, emphasises the fact that the BenQ V2400W isvery suitable for film playback.
For the average leisure gamer, the input lag of 15 ms that wemeasured is not a hindrance. Professional gamers may find the input lagnegative in fast-paced shooting games when it increases to 33 ms.
If you can live without the ergonomic functions mentioned earlier, you will find the BenQ V2400W to be an inexpensive 24-inch all-rounderwhich will attract looks with its high-quality manufacture and unusualdesign. Priced at around 360.00 Euro, the BenQ V2400W is clearly to berecommended.
