Image quality
The S-PVA panel used ensures subjectively very good image quality. The colours are vivid and homogeneity and illumination are convincing at first glance in all respects. In the factory settings, the brightness is set to 90 percent and is accordingly too high. However, this can be corrected quickly by reducing the percentage.
Brightness
| Manufacturer | Measured | 100 % | 300 cd/m² | 313 cd/m² | 90 % | n/a | 250 cd/m² | 42 % | n/a | 141 cd/m² | 0 % | n/a | 60 cd/m² | (亮度可调节范围大)
The maximum brightness is exceeded slightly at 313 cd/m². The level of brightness we consider pleasant (140 cd/m²) is achieved at about 42 percent. A positive aspect is that the backlight can be reduced to 60 cd/m². This means that the HP LP2275w has sufficient scope for reducing the brightness.
Brightness distribution
(均匀性一般,左下角不好)
The brightness distribution was measured at 15 points.
We measured the brightness distribution at 15 points after reducing the monitor’s brightness to 42 percent to achieve a value of 141 cd/m². The gamma value is constant at 2,2.
The values measured deviate a maximum of 19 percent below and 7 percent above the centre value. The brightness is at its lowest in the lower left corner. In relation to the pure measurements, the illumination is satisfactory. In the main viewing area, however, the brightness distribution is good to very good. Thus, in our opinion, one deviation is tolerable as long as it is not noticeable in the subjective view.
Viewing angle
According to the manufacturer’s information, the maximum viewing angle is 178n degrees vertically and horizontally. This means that the monitor is capable of displaying an optimal image from almost any viewing angle.
(可视角度正常,从图中看确实比不上IPS)
The picture shows the viewing angle from above, below, the right side, the left side and frontal view.
The viewing angle pictures document the strengths of the S-PVA panel more than clearly: the HP LP2275w demonstrates as good as no change in image quality at different viewing angles. Even at extremely sharp viewing angles, the image only loses some contrast and pales slightly. However, the colours remain identical and there is no darkening.
The perfect viewing angle is one of the strengths of the HP LP2275w. It is in no way behind the Eizo S2231w in this regard. Both monitors certainly represent the best that the 22-inch WSXGA resolution sector has to offer when it comes to image quality and viewing angles. The only exception here is the aforementioned CG series from Eizo, but this is in a different price league. |
