Nvidia says that its first-quarter profit jumped 44 percent thanks to increased sales to laptop-computer makers.
The companies net income in the quarter ended April 29 rose to $132.3 million from $92.1 million in the same time last year.
Sales gained 24 percent to $844.3 million which was better than analysts' expected. Analysts say that since its chief rival ATI was bought by AMD, it has had the market more or less to itself.
