HighPoint RocketRAID 4460真是一張設計古怪的IOP348產品...

最近在收集相關RAID controller資訊(LSI, Adaptec, 3ware, HighPoint, Areca, etc....)...
順便也看了一下HighPoint的產品...
這個4460真的是相當古怪的設計..
首先他是第一款支持PCIe 2.0 x8的產品..
IOP348根本沒有支持PCIe 2.0...
只有到1.0a版本...

從上圖可以看到他支持的wide port數量和兩顆chip..
根據操作手冊說明的話有些限制
Port1 to Port6
These represent RocketRAID 4460’s 6 Internal Mini-SAS ports. Each port can direct
connect up to 4 hard drives.
Port7
This represents RocketRAID 4460’s additional External Mini-SAS port. With the
automatic port selection funtion, Port7 can be used when Port1 has no disks attached
during power up,this port can direct connect up to 4 hard drives.

從圖中和內容得知Port 1和Port 7是共用的...
也就是說只能二選一....
在看這張圖...

這兩顆被cooler覆蓋的chip中間有一顆被黃色的heatsink蓋住的chip...

另外從操作手冊得知另一個資訊
Note : Only Port1(/Port7) and Port2 support SAS expander.
也就是說只有Port 1/7和Port 2能使用SAS expander...

結果我合理的懷疑...
這張的組合類似RocketRAID 2760的Switch技術...
直接拿兩顆IOP348+PCIe 2.0 bridge硬搞上去.....
目前沒有任何平測報告可看...
性能未必也許會差...
也算是有些花招..

但是價格還不低...
1400~1700美刀....

還有這張支援Multiple Initiators...
