Asetek launches GPU liquid coolers
Neat H2O cooler for R600, G80 boards

A COMPANY WELL known for its phase-change and liquid-cooling stuff, just announced a low-cost liquid-cooling gizmo for hot GPUs of today and tomorrow. Targeted mainly at the OEM crowd, this is designed separately for Nvidia G80 and AMD R600 series of graphics cards, because it combines GPU and graphics board cooling.
G80 pictured with a new cooler We can only show you the G80 design as the R600 is under NDA. But to get back to the point. Asetek designed that as a cooler for the GPU, so letting it cool down the memory and power management, but liberated from the 200W load of the GPU itself. The design can be used either by OEMs or as an upgrade, which is pretty easy. The company also touts ease of use for OEMs, since the cold plate part does not need to be assembled until final assembly of the PC itself, when water-cooling is being deployed. Asetek claims up to 15 degrees Celsius lower temperature, but keeping the low noise with the default fan only spinning at base speed - it only needs to cool down the memory and PWM now. We have yet to see an OEM announcing this solution, but we will be wondering through the halls of Hannover Messe to see which firm has got one.
