To simply the naming of processor classes, Intel will be renaming and grouping them into different names.
From 2008, Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad will be collectively known as Intel Core 2 Processors. Intel Pentium Duo Core will be rebranded as Pentium Processor.
The more apparent change is the mobile technology naming, Intel Centrino pro will be Intel Centrino with vPro technology from 1/1/08. The rest of the Centrino Duo, Centrino will be Centrino Processor Technology.
Intel ViiV will be known as Intel Core 2 processor with ViiV technology and Intel vPro will be known as Intel Core 2 processor with vPro technology.
As for servers, there is minimal change, Intel Itanium 2 will be known as Itanium from Jan 2008.
