TAIWANESE WIRE Digitimes reckons that AMD, already hit by delays on its flagship chips, is in bother with binning out 2.4GHz Phenom CPUs with the intro pushed out to next year.
According to the wire, the Phenom 9700 is being affected by problems with 65 nanometre manufacturing and won't see the light of day until early 2008.
It was originally scheduled to be released on the 19th of December, a pretty daft date to launch anything in Europe and North America apart from Santa Claus outfits.
Quoting unnamed sources at mobo makers, Digitimes said that there are also problems with thermal designs of the chips. It suggests AMD's 45 nanometre and AM3 CPUs will be affected by such problems. µ |
