I got two times of CPU fan failure which I didn't notice at first,  The temperature of processor E6300 rised to 99°c and didn't take any thermal protection, such as shuting down the power,  I'm wondering....
1.  what's the temperature threshold of E6300?
2.  How come the processor didn't take any actions even with over 99°c temperature to avoid the possible thermal death.?

The maximum operating temperature of the Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor E6300 is 61.4 degrees Celsius. As long as the processor is operating under this temperature it is operating within specifications. We recommend setting any thermal alarms about three (3) degrees below the maximum recommended temperature for the processor. We do not have a normal operating temperature for the processor as this temperature will vary depending on the chassis and other hardware installed on the system as well as the actual load the software is placing on the processor.

大意:
maximum operating temperature最大操作温度为61度，推荐你你把过热报警限再设低3度，即放到58度。

至于平时的正常温度，(是20度还是40度) ，则是变化的，取决于运行没运行大程序、系统软硬件等等。
