credit/CPU is totally not related to performance. it measures how many work you have done for the seti@home project per CPU you have. So, your Pentium 3 works 24*7 may got higher credit/CPU than my C2D X6800 works 1 hour per day.
seti@home itself is floating intensive.
as I have said very clearly: Barcelona can't beat Core in CPU performance, either IPC or frequency. But given the higher system memory bandwidth Opteron system have, Barcelona will lead Clevertown in memory bandwidth constrained benchmark, such as specfp_rate 2000 (maybe this is the only benchmark Barcelona can parade).
