The Microcode Update device is an interface between the operating system and an Intel processor based on the x86 architecture. Thisdevice provides the latest microcode updates for the processor if theBIOS does not already contain this information.
MORE INFORMATIONIfthe computer that you are using does not contain the processordescribed in the "Summary" section of this article, or if your BIOS isup to date with Intel's latest microcode, the Microcode Update deviceis not initiated; the device is unloaded to free up resources. DeviceManager marks the device with a code 24 status message: The device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
If the microcode on your computer is current, the drivers areunloaded by design. In this case, the code 24 status message isexpected, and it does not indicate a problem. The device is marked ashidden and is not visible by default. Therefore, when the code 24status message occurs, the message is not displayed when you are usingthe default configuration.


大部分情况下microcode update是在BIOS里边做的，当然为了保险Windows也可以做，称为microcode update service微码升级服务
而这个KB补丁是microcode update service的补丁，而不是microcode 的补丁，也就是补丁的补丁......
M$还是比较有才的.....

Microcode  update的确是CPU的补丁
但是这个补丁是Micrcode update服务的补丁即补丁的补丁.......
