This is a request to the rest of the Asus A7N8X-VM owners that have" G& d; s4 m' Y6 s
bought the companion AGP-NV-DVI card. I'm not able to get TV out6 n3 O6 n0 O4 V/ y
working, either through Composite or S-Video, in Windows 2000 or/ |6 J3 j; C. o& ^3 u5 {
Linux, and I was curious if anyone else has or is having the same6 A% e- _7 ^( _/ q
problem.

I have tried downloading and reinstalling the drivers for the systems( S7 K7 q0 a, m5 q0 d7 Z3 X; X
components, running the system with each monitor indivually and
( N! s& Q& H8 H$ Y/ V3 i3 b+ hcombined, and unplugging the TV Tuner Card. The setting under the bios
/ q6 A1 T! a- U6 K# `$ [* S4 Cspecify NTSC for the TV out format Nothing has had an effect on the6 O {1 b$ G' k/ k' w
video output of the AGP-NV-DVI card.3 b* h$ E( g0 O; d' _/ |- }8 @* a
3 \- `# y8 S6 ?All I receive from the Television for a fraction of second is a m: Z7 \% {! P# J& i
flicker of the computer screen in B&W when I select the Television$ _* H! d$ _* ?$ }9 {0 d, J' h, A ~

Tried system out of case with Antec 400W psu, heard a "pop" sound and

the card; smell seems to be coming from around the AGP slot

Okay, got the system board (A7N8X-VM/400) and daughter card
! x: Y8 D- f7 H9 n, E) A(AGP-NV-DVI) back from the RMA department. I hook up all the parts and; Q/ U. Y+ {+ w$ w" q
pieces to the power supply and the SAME PROBLEM. Exactly the same as
( H& H! _4 r3 U/ O/ s: D. nthe last time. I did notice one new thing. When I went to check the
0 I( }9 e# f1 {) i( B" n/ Aconnection of the Composite Video Cable a small spark jumped from the
+ E: k6 S8 e( i$ s3 C4 lAGP Cards resistor, Marked R20??, to the AGP Connector on the system
# W) h' J2 f4 v7 cboard, causing the system to reset and including the CMOS. That7 ]: F! m+ ]# m1 z
doesn't look good at all. Funny thing is that was happening before I9 L u! l4 z0 _) R `, ]0 a
just didn't notice it, and I think thats what caused the last failure.3 j* m3 L- T/ S0 R0 h
Bottom line the Card and System still don't do what I need them to do.& ?3 n7 b3 j* L% ^+ N+ X _- E
Help with this feature would be greatly appreciated since it is why I r. u! O$ r( X( r
purchased this system and daughter card.

The sparks probably indicate a static electricity problem--not really' U9 d2 S& u+ ?
a good thing. This is two power-type issues you have had since7 J: i4 J1 o+ Z% x1 \
changing the power supply--perhaps there is something wrong with the, s' {3 p/ v# v9 L
Antec you picked up? The parts you received from RMA either a) worked
8 {/ I) U$ `, T5 X1 h3 @properly in their lab after repair, or b) were sent as working% u" J8 i/ N+ w: O& a D" }
replacements for the parts you sent to them. Either way, they should
; V5 A* E# O' }; @/ N' A+ Ofunction correctly. Since you had a problem initially when using the
2 }" t$ y5 h/ ^5 o& fAntec, and now are having what looks like static problems, perhaps
3 z% x3 N; ?: M9 w% e& nthat particular power supply has issues of its own.
$ S: Z6 x% X+ O; X
* n' b6 H( H, ?7 o0 B+ wRegarding the TV out problem: Make sure the television is turned on3 K9 g% c, j; G$ `, j$ I7 o9 n
and connected to the card before turning on the computer. You may also3 c$ `% h7 ] e+ ^) G1 p
want to try a different video cable to see if that helps.9 E. E/ x- \9 s1 P6 p7 v
- b& } s% p# \! j+ u$ d
If a different power supply doesn't help the condition of the boards,( d4 F! {' K* x2 g( p! L& |. g
unfortunately the only option left is to contact RMA once again.# j' ~% p9 y$ y
