This is a request to the rest of the Asus A7N8X-VM owners that have5 |# C9 M6 q3 i7 h& Y4 R1 P( P$ d5 {
bought the companion AGP-NV-DVI card. I'm not able to get TV out$ D) b! {. g2 C% ?& z$ T7 k/ B& Z! n
working, either through Composite or S-Video, in Windows 2000 or
/ b2 c/ u5 D, u) r0 a$ }5 w3 pLinux, and I was curious if anyone else has or is having the same* o, G* {9 o/ c
problem.

I've been dealing with this problem since Mar 17, 2004 and no one has

All Devices Are function properly with the exception of the DVI

I have tried downloading and reinstalling the drivers for the systems5 l' @3 K/ h6 D3 A
components, running the system with each monitor indivually and
$ l: ^) \" z8 ~, f* [" acombined, and unplugging the TV Tuner Card. The setting under the bios
: i" ^% v# G+ W$ R! Yspecify NTSC for the TV out format Nothing has had an effect on the
' V, h$ G1 F4 I4 ] Qvideo output of the AGP-NV-DVI card.

Tried system out of case with Antec 400W psu, heard a "pop" sound and9 W- M& O7 k0 @' @$ E+ W
smelled smoke; nothing works, system won't power up, with or without

% R' N' e$ p9 |8 L( E( h(AGP-NV-DVI) back from the RMA department. I hook up all the parts and
6 ]1 W) X7 ]( L5 B" T$ G5 Spieces to the power supply and the SAME PROBLEM. Exactly the same as/ s( M5 i; ?" m. g! k
the last time. I did notice one new thing. When I went to check the
! s( {0 i1 @. d3 \/ |' Y" tconnection of the Composite Video Cable a small spark jumped from the- o4 c# b- w6 h! Y7 L
AGP Cards resistor, Marked R20??, to the AGP Connector on the system
1 i! u' Z( ~% G. B7 Qboard, causing the system to reset and including the CMOS. That
' j- U( D$ P7 O! \/ m# C2 |, A hdoesn't look good at all. Funny thing is that was happening before I
0 P- F( S6 }# n Y5 ijust didn't notice it, and I think thats what caused the last failure. Z. Z$ a* O; ~
Bottom line the Card and System still don't do what I need them to do.

, X5 {4 J, U, ?* w4 fchanging the power supply--perhaps there is something wrong with the
7 y* [5 D+ \3 E) O( p, jAntec you picked up? The parts you received from RMA either a) worked
_. `, B1 _$ v! hproperly in their lab after repair, or b) were sent as working
' K: ^+ q$ R, m7 S# X% h" ]" _ Lreplacements for the parts you sent to them. Either way, they should
& A* h6 N2 Y7 |0 i# Kfunction correctly. Since you had a problem initially when using the
3 u0 x, w+ c* G& g) R" IAntec, and now are having what looks like static problems, perhaps
* N! H+ h& _9 S3 I1 q& Zthat particular power supply has issues of its own.5 ]( A) _/ f4 B# S+ ]% L
" p8 b+ o: x: @
Regarding the TV out problem: Make sure the television is turned on& q: q- B$ S* T6 w1 B( u
and connected to the card before turning on the computer. You may also6 f5 H6 [/ P7 c
want to try a different video cable to see if that helps.

If a different power supply doesn't help the condition of the boards,6 O0 Z4 [1 f& ?% I
unfortunately the only option left is to contact RMA once again.. D; p5 `+ W0 H( V, W
Please give these suggestions a try, and let us know if you need( D% e% _3 `; `* \, G
anything else.
