This is a request to the rest of the Asus A7N8X-VM owners that have. F- H( o$ `# ]( I# G/ J+ P$ k
bought the companion AGP-NV-DVI card. I'm not able to get TV out
6 |1 t [7 U4 s$ y- O# yworking, either through Composite or S-Video, in Windows 2000 or( {% ^4 ~% `$ V+ Q$ ]. ^5 Q) o
Linux, and I was curious if anyone else has or is having the same
y3 T: w+ Y7 ?problem.

All Devices Are function properly with the exception of the DVI% M$ o! m! w0 Z
Daugther Card's S-Video and Composite out Feature. This is the main; P4 o: K/ g) r3 v7 n: O
reason I purchased this motherboard and daughter card.

! V- s) z+ J% FI have tried downloading and reinstalling the drivers for the systems- d2 `0 C4 K p+ U/ d- G
components, running the system with each monitor indivually and
+ x+ ] c. p5 x3 ]5 W' t* C6 |combined, and unplugging the TV Tuner Card. The setting under the bios6 J9 s4 ]# T. I P$ W% P4 U
specify NTSC for the TV out format Nothing has had an effect on the! N w! h+ \1 g% j* O- R4 N+ j+ b+ @: j# k
video output of the AGP-NV-DVI card.
$ o7 T' e* G0 k. @
8 C4 w- z. G9 E( x" eAll I receive from the Television for a fraction of second is a! Z4 c8 N1 g- I) j* n
flicker of the computer screen in B&W when I select the Television

j9 S3 j+ U4 G3 s# r: Nmotherboard. Whenever selecting to output to the tv, he gets a quick
9 V- B3 G, J- Z7 y4 S2 @flicker and then the video goes out again. He has attempted to connect
9 y" S7 t a* M6 U- G' ~+ ^& Oto another tv. Same problems. Also tried loading linux, to see if
& y8 r" X7 c3 U& E6 Kstill had problems. No difference. Beginning to sound like a possible
9 `& d# J+ m- X' o; b) l1 N+ Cbad card. Suggested trying a different power supply, run the

Tried system out of case with Antec 400W psu, heard a "pop" sound and
0 R* L: Z6 z6 C; Fsmelled smoke; nothing works, system won't power up, with or without

Okay, got the system board (A7N8X-VM/400) and daughter card. T; Y K v2 f( H9 F( }
(AGP-NV-DVI) back from the RMA department. I hook up all the parts and
% o& f, H: ? _5 |pieces to the power supply and the SAME PROBLEM. Exactly the same as( S6 P" ~; ]& K& N: q
the last time. I did notice one new thing. When I went to check the& }) }5 L* `: X% h$ }
connection of the Composite Video Cable a small spark jumped from the
& g1 r" I& Y, t! v7 S* e8 KAGP Cards resistor, Marked R20??, to the AGP Connector on the system9 A' U8 r6 l! I4 s7 w
board, causing the system to reset and including the CMOS. That0 {2 J8 G, y) j N2 K
doesn't look good at all. Funny thing is that was happening before I, _& s& ?1 H9 P" x# J
just didn't notice it, and I think thats what caused the last failure.0 V& _: Y" ]. ~/ X
Bottom line the Card and System still don't do what I need them to do.9 N2 i# m0 R) G" {# j
Help with this feature would be greatly appreciated since it is why I
3 Y# F* l) @) T6 Kpurchased this system and daughter card.

4 [* Q6 i4 }; e- Z: [a good thing. This is two power-type issues you have had since
! _* F/ o4 M0 f# h( nchanging the power supply--perhaps there is something wrong with the! n' l6 c# H6 f v& h( u* p
Antec you picked up? The parts you received from RMA either a) worked+ V. _9 j: A! L4 ~0 u5 ^8 F, R4 L
properly in their lab after repair, or b) were sent as working" O9 r( s* J+ E: x% z
replacements for the parts you sent to them. Either way, they should
2 E# p( t, [& \function correctly. Since you had a problem initially when using the7 ^+ g l; b% v" X/ k* [- C
Antec, and now are having what looks like static problems, perhaps
8 U: L# ~/ b4 i- t3 Othat particular power supply has issues of its own.
( |5 H* I7 F! ^9 [. T6 @7 E5 N" h* u5 A! w
Regarding the TV out problem: Make sure the television is turned on# a0 R! z+ d8 M: R% J% ~' I
and connected to the card before turning on the computer. You may also
( w: [6 M6 H* i4 m* d6 Z$ ~want to try a different video cable to see if that helps.$ A- a0 U# R2 I6 G* ?" [
; H) r. n2 O2 q7 M* w9 Q8 j" k$ i
If a different power supply doesn't help the condition of the boards,
' L6 y$ c# E+ K# i3 L' [unfortunately the only option left is to contact RMA once again.! m$ A5 L' r6 ~) x/ M( ~( v
