A: The new company will start with approximately 3,000 global employees.

A: The transaction is expected to close at the beginning of the New Year following satisfaction of conditions such as approvals from regulators.

A: The Foundry Company will play a leading role in a global semiconductor industry that is seeing a rapid increase in demand with global semiconductor sales set to grow from $276.9 billion in 2008, to $321.5 billion in 2010 according to the SIA, as research and development complexity and cost and capital equipment expenditures increase exponentially.
Q: When will additional sites/manufacturing facilities be opened?
A: The Foundry Company will move forward aggressively with expansion projects in Dresden and Upstate, NY upon close of the transaction. Once the State of New York transfers the development incentives outlined in the Grant Disbursement Agreement, we will build a new 300 mm fab at the Luther Forest Technology Campus in Saratoga County, NY.
Q: How much involvement will AMD and ATIC have in Foundry Co.’s daily operations?
A: While we expect AMD and ATIC to be active partners in the success of the Foundry Company we also expect Foundry Co’s executive team to have full autonomy to manage the company as we ramp the business.
Q: Does this announcement mean the new company is committed to breaking ground on a new Fab in Upstate, NY?
A: After a successful transaction close it’s our intention to move forward and break ground on a new Fab in Upstate, NY.
Q: What is the timeline for production in Fab 38 in Dresden?
A: Currently, 300mm tools and capacity in Fab 38 are being used to augment Fab 36. Upon close of the transaction, The Foundry Company will complete the Dresden 300mm transformation of in 2009.
Q: Who are The Foundry Company’s potential customers?
