LG presents their new W86 series as “Deep black and glossy”. The W86 series has an extremely slim frame on just 19 mm because of a LED backlight.

LG has announced two new monitors in the W86 range. The first one called W2286L has a 22-inch panel and the bigger W2486L has a 24-inch panel. Both feature the LED backlight and therefore and extremely thin frame. The LED backlight also results in a very low energy consumption.

- “The new models are not only space-saving, but are also extremely energy-efficient, since they are equipped with energy-saving, environmentally friendly LED backlights”, explains Nils Seib, Manager for Public Relations, LG Electronics Deutschland GmbH.
“Unlike conventional backlights, the LEDs in the W86 series are lead and halogen free. Thus, they ensure an optimal backlight and protect the environment at the same time.”

Both models feature a TN panel with a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. The response time is 2 ms (g2g), probably making monitors suitable for gaming purposes. Viewing angles are 170/170 (contrast 5:1).

The monitors of the W86 series are available from June. W2286L will cost 299.00 Euro and W2486L is priced at 379.00 Euro.
