To expand its survivability, in addition to defend its share in the GPU market, Nvidia is also pushing its ARM-based TegrPro-Acessor, designed specifically for the latest generation smartphones, tablet PCs, e-book readers and embedded solutions such as set-top boxes (STB). However, due to the PC and smartphone markets being dominated by Intel and Qualcomm's platforms, respectively, Nvidia's Tegra series has not been seeing any significant improvement over order volumes, but as several first-tier smartphone brands decided to adopt Tegra 2 for their new products, market watchers have recently started to re-evaluate the potential of the Tegra platform in the future.

Although it does not have an x86 processor product line, Nvidia's ARM-based TegrPro-Acessor, which has been developed for close to six years, is targeting next-generation mobile products such as digital music players, smartphones and tablet PCs. Different from Intel's platform, Nvidia has been enhancing its TegrPro-Acessor to allow the CPU to have high performance and low power consumption. Devices adopting TegrPro-Acessors will feature playback of high definition video, while allowing consumers to view high-definition images through the Internet for long periods of time as well as support a 3D user interface.

Since Intel and Qualcomm have firm leading positions in the PC and handset markets, respectively, market watchers were conservative toward Nvidia Tegra's future. In August 2009, Nvidia saw some improvements in its Tegra business as the processor received orders for Microsoft's Zune HD and also received orders for its Kin handset at a later time; however, due to Zune HD's sales being unpleasant, while Kin also under-performed, Tegra's shipment performance dropped back again.

As iPad has recently triggered several IT brands to launch tablet PCs, Nvidia has successfully caught up with the trend and its Tegra 2 has already landed orders for use in Asustek Computer, Micro-Star International (MSI), Toshiba and High Tech Computer's (HTC's) tablet PCs, while the processor has also entered the smartphone market and landed orders from Motorola. Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, at the company-hosted GTC 2010 also noted that Motorola is one of the major clients that Nvidia is cooperating with for the long term.

After receiving orders from Asustek, HTC and Motorola, Nvidia's GPU lineup has successfully expanded from only the PC market to also the handset and the consumer electronics markets. The company's inferior status in competition against AMD and Intel, is expected to see a significant improvement.

In addition to explaining the roadmap of its Fermi GPUs, Nvidia, at GTC 2010, also pointed out that the Tegra 3 is already being prepared and the company is working on the development of Tegra 4.

如果是Yes的话，以后直接用手机或者平板就可以连接大电视，或者投影仪。
当然，连接到功放（DTS-HD）可能还不行，毕竟台式机这边460 才刚刚上BitSteam的班车

苹果IPAD挽救了tegra，youku上有万利达OEM的tegra2平板机演示视频，flash性能和3D游戏演示相当惊人。

6神的tegra挽救了ipad是啥意思？应该是平板电脑可能让tegra有用武之地比较准确吧？

6神的tegra挽救了ipad是啥意思？应该是平板电脑可能让tegra有用武之地比较准确吧？

乔布斯成功的把平板机推向消费领域，从这个意义上来说也是Ipad大大帮助了tegra平台

还有，这个芯片功耗如何目前新闻也很少，ARM holdings能否在Intel加入智能机大战后继续保持这种高速发展也要打个问号，话说以Intel的制程和制造能力，ARM会鸭梨很大。

这个世界上没有什么东西是靠的住，intel自己收购的麦咖啡说不定哪天才发现自己做了一件蠢得要命的事。订单，利润才是真金白银。大家慢慢看呗，老黄放言继续tegra3和4的开发就足够了，起码说明他自己对tegra还是有很大的信心。结局如何那是市场说的算。

不过这里面你还是忽略了一个问题，就是NV研发tegra的资金如果长期得不到回笼，那么黄大说的tegraN可能就是画饼充饥了，黄大很有我朝鹳猿的作风：先放话，做不做得出来再说，现在开大会就说开普勒提升N倍，还要说的那么准确，好像已经有了成品似的，哎。你说的很对，利润，所以只有tegra获得了大批订单并获得了市场好评才有可能有巨额资金来支持自身发展。就看目前这些订单是否能带给NV实实在在的大收益了。

呵呵，谁的研发产品的资金长期不能回笼都会有问题的，比如intel的拉拉比。要是在未来数年仍然看不到希望，intel一定把这个项目砍了
