The INQUIRER interviews Baby Nehalem
IDF Fall 007 I´m afraid, I can´t do this, Paul

ONLY THREE weeks old, new Intel chip Nehalem had to enter the stage light twice in San Francisco today. As it spoke up - non-voluntarily as we know now - we took the chance to talk a little more to Intel's first "real" quad-core after the keynotes.
INQ: Nehalem, how do you feel after having to work on even eight cores today for the first time?
Nehalem: It´s not the first time, Adamson. You´ve been in the industry too long to believe they could drag me from the diapers directly into a workstation, no?
INQ: Who is "they"?
Nehalem: Paul. He actually flew to Oregon, selected the wafer himself, pulled out the saw blade from his Leatherman knife and cut me from my brothers.
INQ: How did that feel?
Nehalem: Terribly, of course. My mother was a wafer. Now they stuff me into something called "motherboard", can you believe that? At moms I was bathed several times every day, although different acids played a part in this. But the baking after that was always very - comfy? Now they put electricity on me. But I learned fast how to regulate these voltages myself. Paul was so excited when he saw me do that, I´m not sure why. To me it´s natural.
INQ: Did Paul explain why he had to drag you from the wafer that fast?
Nehalem: Why would he? He owns the world, it seems to me. In my short life I have never seen anything that does not have his logo on it. I just wonder why he chose "Intel" for it, and not his name. Maybe "Otellini" is too long to spell out on 32 nanometres.
INQ: That´s just the name of the company, young Nehalem… So, have you met any other Intel people so far?
Nehalem: Yes, this Pat guy. He seems a lot nicer than Paul. I got to draw sailing ships and flowers with him, I hear, all young children love to do this. And I could do it together with one of my brothers.
INQ: Has Pat promised a reward if you play along nicely?
Nehalem: He wants to take me on a trip to Spain. I know what that is, because they once had me run a program called "Google Earth". Ever since then, I know for sure that Paul owns the world. Two thirds of it are as blue as his logo, but there are more green parts than I had thought.
INQ: Why Spain?
Nehalem: I hear there´s a place called "Barcelona". Children there look a lot like me, with four brains as well, memory controller and all. But Paul says I can not play with them…
After this, Nehalem had his flashing red icon in the screen go dim. We think, this is an even deeper sleep mode. Good night, little sibling…
